CAREER
Paul's professional background began as part of a small family restaurant business in Northport, NY. It was this business that instilled a work ethic and service-mindedness that continues to be foundational to his approach. Along the way, Paul was blessed to be exposed to the field of technology and computer networking. Through God’s hand of providence and many unique opportunities and experiences, this ultimately developed into a career in the areas of network communications, solutions engineering and product development.
Paul currently serves as Vice President of Telecom Engineering (operating support systems) at Altice, a global telecommunications, media and entertainment company encompassing a full suite of advanced digital television, voice, high-speed Internet services, television networks, and valuable media, programming and advertising properties.
He and his wife (Heather) also partner in a venture focusing on business + technical + media solutions and services: Whisper Professional Services.
Paul also maintains a passion and interest in the food-service and restaurant industry as an active partner in a successful restaurant/bar located in Port Jefferson Village - The Whiskey Barrel.
At home in both the strategic and operational theaters of technology-engineering and business-integration, Paul has successfully delivered a diverse portfolio of projects in the academic, commercial, industrial, non-profit and service-provider industries.
Holding patents in a number of areas, he is passionate about creatively developing new uses for existing technologies and effectively weaving new technologies into existing business markets and/or causes.
As a means of encouraging ownership, accountability, creativity, communication and consistency, he cultivates the relational, organizational and cultural aspects of team-building into his management strategy and delivery tactics.
Paul serves as a hand’s-on, individual-contributor while also building and leading global teams of varying sizes, backgrounds and talents. He has real-world experience having integrated disparate technologies into cohesive consumer experiences across millions of devices and users. These integrations have embraced many facets of full-stack engineering and agile development practices.
Paul’s approach is to challenge existing assumptions, viewpoints and advocacies while translating business and financial objectives into creative, robust and operationally-minded solutions.
FAITH
Paul gave his life to Jesus as a young boy while attending a summer back-yard Bible club in 1979. He grew up in a Christian environment under the teaching and faithful example of his parents and the family of Island Christian Church (formally known as Northport Baptist Church).
After beginning his own family and moving to the east-end of Long Island, Paul and his family began attending Integrity Church (formally known as Integrity Christian Fellowship) in 2006. Paul served on the elder board, oversaw the creation and ongoing development of the small group ministry and continues to actively participate in the worship team playing both the trumpet and the electronic wind instrument (EWI).
Paul serves as a member of the Eastern District Association (EDA) Multiplication Team (a regional program of Evangelical Free Church of America). The goal of this team is to multiply transformational churches by helping pastors, leaders and church planters live well, lead well and reproduce the multiplication process themselves.
Paul is also a founding member of Cohesion Ministries, a not-for-profit consultative and service organization with the following four-point purpose:
Cultivate organizational maturity through proven systems and programs (while also emphasizing individual and organizational uniqueness).
Communicate 1st century principles through 21st century methodologies.
Collaborate with pastors and lay leaders for church development and growth.
Connect with God and one another through creative ideation, dynamic worship, effective fellowship and iCampus resourcing.
FAMILY
Paul and his best friend Heather met on the missions field in 1990 serving the people of Jamaica with church building and in music ministry The two were married in the fall of 1995 and are the proud parents of four wonderful children: Lucas (b. 1998), Laurel (b. 1999), Hunter (b. 2001) and Jadon (b. 2003).
The family resides on the north shore of Long Island, New York with their two German Shepherds. Heather and Paul work very hard to keep their original friendship fresh and love spending time together whether it be volunteering, cruising on their motorcycles or partnering in a business & technology consulting practice (Whisper Professional Services).
MUSIC
Paul began playing trumpet in 1981 and was quickly ushered under the teaching of a man who would become a lifelong mentor in all areas of life extending well beyond music - Mr. James Fairman. Paul's love and passion for the instrument continues today - not only in performing, but in all aspects of the trumpet including acoustic science, fabrication, metallurgy and collecting.
Along the way, Paul became enamored with electronic music, sound design and acoustic emulation. He found "wind synthesis" and the use of MIDI wind controllers allowed him to explore and combine both acoustic instrument techniques with the flexibility and emerging capabilities of electronic musical performance. He is part of a small but growing community of wind instrument players finding creative means of musical expression using breath-controlled MIDI instruments to produce both electronic and acoustic emulative music.
